Storm water analysis for industrial discharges in California and the Los Angeles Region

Los Angeles County, CA

Flow Science conducted a thorough review of the basis for the California Toxics Rule (CTR), its applicability to storm water discharges, and the proper development of numeric limits for NPDES permits for storm water discharges. In addition, Flow Science gathered and evaluated data for storm water discharges from industrial facilities, receiving waters within the Los Angeles Region, and storm water runoff from various land use types within Los Angeles County. These data formed the basis for a comprehensive analysis of metals concentrations in storm water runoff and in receiving waters, and demonstrated the highly variable nature of storm flows and constituent concentrations. Together with GeoSyntec Consultants, Flow Science also provided a comprehensive review of available best management practices (BMPs) and their effectiveness in addressing metals concentrations in storm water.
