Los Vaqueros Reservoir Hydraulic and Transient Analysis

Contra Costa Water District
Contra Costa Country, CA

Flow Science performed hydraulic and transient analysis for the Los Vaqueros Reservoir project.

The system consists of a 10,000 HP/ 250 cfs and a 10,000 HP/200 cfs pump station, 36,000 ft of 78-inch diameter pipeline, and 28,000 ft of 90-inch pipeline capable of delivering up to 400 cfs from the reservoir to the Contra Costa Canal via a flow control facility consisting of two 54-inch sleeve valves. Recommended surge protection included five-12 ft diameter by 60 ft long surge tanks for the pump stations.
