Modeling Study of Flow Diversion Structure at Richmond WWTP

Richmond, Virginia

Flow Science developed a two-phase CFD model to analyze the flow characteristics in a flow diversion structure at Richmond WWTP, Virginia. The purpose of the analysis was to provide guidance for weir elevation set points for the range of the flow rates into the flow diversion structure. The analysis simulated five inflow rates ranging from 75 to 140 MGD to estimate the weir elevation for a targeted flow rate. In addition, the location for a water level sensor was recommended based on the modeling results.
