Flow Science designed and performed an oceanographic study to evaluate current patterns in coastal waters between San Mateo Point and Oceanside in the Southern California Bight.

The studies performed, both in winter and summer, disclosed previously unrecognized dispersion patterns associated with onshore/offshore tidal sloshing motions.

A detailed comparison of floating drogue motions with concurrent fixed site current meter records indicated a high degree of cross correlation. (Published in the Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 116(10):1158-1179, 1990).
