- Analysis of transient response over 30 miles.
- 72-inch prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) transitioning to a series of downstream 60-inch butterfly valve closures.
- Up to 80 MGD flow rate.
Puerto Rico Superaqueduct Pipeline Pipeline Failure Hydraulic Transient Analysis
Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority
Flow Science performed a hydraulic transient analysis of the failure of the Puerto Rico Superaqueduct treated water transmission pipeline. The study involved analyzing the transient response of approximately 30 miles of 72-inch prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) to a series of downstream 60-inch butterfly valve closure events. Flow rates of up to 80 mgd were studied.
