San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Cooling Water Outfall

Southern California Edison Company
San Diego County, California

Flow Science conducted analyses to evaluate the effect of increased discharge temperature, which would exceed the Thermal Plan 20 ºF maximum thermal increase limitation. The study determined that the increased discharge temperature to the Pacific Ocean from San Onofre Units 2 and 3 would not result in exceedances to the Thermal Plan receiving water limitations.Flow Science provided testimony to the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board and the State Water Quality Control Board in support of a new NPDES permit, which was approved.
