San Vicente Reservoir Indirect Potable Reuse/Reservoir Augmentation Demonstration Project

San Diego County Water Authority

San Diego, CA

Flow Science has recently begun work on detailed hydrodynamic and water quality modeling to evaluate the water quality impacts that would be associated with changes in San Vicente Reservoir induced by the Indirect Potable Reuse project. This work will involve a limnological study of San Vicente Reservoir with the purpose of establishing residence time requirements for discharges of up to 12,000 acre-ft/year into the reservoir from an advanced water treatment (AWT) plant. It will also quantifying the impacts of the AWT water on eutrophication and pathogens in the reservoir. The work will also address the specific detention requirements for the AWT water as well as help the City formulate a multi-barrier approach for protecting the drinking water supply.
