Silver Lake Water Quality Modeling Study
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
Los Angeles, California
Flow Science developed a three-dimensional water quality model to support a water quality study of Silver Lake, CA. To address potential water quality issues under future conditions. Several methods including an air bubbler, pump recirculation, and a floating wetland island have been identified as potential strategies for water quality improvement. The model was used to estimate the sizing of the proposed systems such as air flow rates of the bubbler and pump recirculation rates. In addition, the model was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed strategies on improving the water quality in the lake.
